Hi. I have just bought a Motoro Stingray as a gift for my father. Now he has done a lot of research and knows a lot about them and i have done my fair share of reading up on them too. Between us we have around 11 years experience keeping all forms of tropical fish and i have recently moved into marine fish.

Now alot of the information i have read and also advice i have received from other aquarists is conflicting so asking this question could provide the same results.

But i am wondering are they as difficult to care for as people say they are?

If so any advice?

i'm gonna move this over to the predatory part of the forum, you'll get more expert advice over there.

Hi'

How big is the ray and is it male or female? If it's female you're going to need a pretty big tank.
As long as you can meeet the size requirements then looking after them is not all that hard.

Weekly water changes , daily feeding (twice if juvi) , placid tank mates .
All heaters should be in the sump or covered up with heater guards.

Lid's should be tight as rays do come to the top of the water for food and the last thing you want is your ray overdoing it and ending up on the floor.

I have 2 rays and yet to have any real issues with it.

I would love one of these.
But the Mrs won't let me get a tank big enough :(
