my freshy moray is eating!!!, i killed a feederfish and i put it near its cave and sure enouph he ate it!!!!!, so hppy loooks like everthing is going to be ok!!!!

Good. Now please stop using the feeder fish. They really are an invitation to getting sick predatory fish. Go buy some nice frozen whitebait or lancefish. Cheaper, safer, healthier, and easy to use -- what's not to like?

Cheers, Neale

I wish I could get my Panther to eat some frozen.....( not trying to jack your thread)
Whatr are lance fish? What brand sells them? Hutch, did you move it aroud at all to entice the moray? Feed it with thongs? Or just let it sit there?

Lancefish are (I think) sand eels or grunion or some other small fish like that. You buy them frozen from aquarium shops. They're sold in similar packages to bloodworms etc.

Feeding predatory fish is all about patience. There's a whole thing about the topic here:

Morays hunt by smell, so it's pretty easy to get them taking dead food. Predators that hunt by sight are different, and you often need to "trick" them by dangling the prey on cotton or throwing the prey into a water current. Very, very few fish cannot be trained to take dead food.

actually i moved it around for him he saw it but didnt want to get near my hand so i let it go and he grabbed it, i hand fed him today :hyper: was so sick, i dunno i cant seem to find any frozen fish or anything i dunno

go to a fishmonger, they probably have it in their freezer (and probably cheaper than a pet shop too) that's where we get ours.

Or, if you are lucky enough to live near the coast, try a local fish shed. We got some very good deals there.

For small frozen fish, spratts (Sprattus sprattus) are often carried by fish sheds. They are great, though tend to be slightly larger than lfs sized whitebait.
