Echidna rhodochilus

other than fishbase i cant find any info on these eels. i would like to purchase one but finding one seems to be very hard. there not listed on tropical fishfinder. is there a new name for them?

They appear in the trade very seldomly, i managed to get one at Wildwoods a few years ago but other than one other specimin on sale at BAS i have never seen another available in the UK.

I dont know why you couldnt find them on fishbase http://filaman.ifm-geomar.de/country/Count...ies=rhodochilus

As for information they are harder to keep than Gymnothorax species, they are much more sensative to water quality and are very shy gentle feeders that usually require hand feeding for the first few months. They are also less predatory than ttheir cousins preffering a shellfish based diet rather than fish so prawns mussels and cockles are preffered over whitebait/lance fish.

thanx.
i found the info on fishbase, i was hoping that there was more out there.
is a 5x2x2 suitable for Gymnothorax tile, as you seem to have had bit of experiance with them. or any input into a good eel for the given tank size. Echidna Rhodochilus was a nice size for that tank.
