Hey
Ive got a Green Spotted Puffer at about 2", 3x Knight Gobies and 2x Columbian cat sharks (one at 5.5" and one at 4").
Could i get a echidna rhodochilus with them? They are one of the smaller species of morays and only get to around 30 cm. Could they go into a brackish enviroment where the SG is above 1.005 (am raising it gradually every week, aiming to get to around 1.010 or 1.013)?
Cheers

Youll be very lucky to find one but if you can then the higher the SG is the better, they ultimately do best when the SG is between 1.010 and full sea water.

Unfortunately this fish is very seldomly imported to the UK.

hey,
i put a post up a few days ago asking about these guys. (its not to far down)
ive asked around some of my LFS and ive had some good feedback on getting one.
as soon as i get a supplier i'll let you know.

Ah ok thanks for letting me know! Would have tried at wildwoods but dought they've got any in now lol! Im going crews hill next week so will look out!
Yeah Dale, that'd be great! Cheers :)

Morays and GSPs don't mix. In a very large tank it works with monos and scats. Greens Spotted Puffers tend to turn on morays. It is not a problem if there are monos or something for the puffers to be occupied with. Granted a Echidna sp. moray would not eat the puffers, the puffers could bully it. Also Connorsbala are you sure it is Echidna rhodochilus, most people confuse with Gymnothorax tile. Echidna rhodochilus is very rare compared to Gymnothorax tile. Gymnothrax tile would definately not work with GSPs. Gymnothorax tile would not think twice about scarfing down a GSP. My expierience with Gymnothorax tile is simple: as long as the tankmates do not harrass the moray they are safe, unless they are a puffer. At my lfs there are several gsps and morays together in a 100 gallon. They ripped each other apart. A puffer ripped a moray's eye out in front of me last weekend. Ive seen morays live quite well with puffers, however the puffers of the genus tetraodon never work with morays. They are just to much of bullies and the morays cannot handle that kind of abuse. Morays cannot have fin niping, they get infections easily because thier fins cant grow back.

Morays can be kept with green spot puffers. I currently have three of them with a green spot. This is in a 33 gallon; indeed most authors do recommend GSP's as a good tankmate, though they do point out the (small) risk of a large moray eating a puffer. Even still, I have owned five GSP's and six G. tile morays and it would appear that the morays are less likely to bother living things if they are purchased as babies and fed only dead foods.

If your tank has tight caves that only the moray can enter (highly recommended) then the puffer cannot possibly get to them. "Marine/freshwater" seems a bit pedantic on this issue, and yes I know I'm a cruel "fish hater" but these two fish can be combined if appropriate measures are taken. It's not about luck, either.

They get to a good 24" long so i wouldnt keep them in any less than 4x2x2

They should be fine in that SG

How safe it would be with your smaller fish is another question
