several days ago i bought a freshwater moray eel, it hasnt eaten a thing yet so i decided to put in 1teaspoon of salt for every
10 gallons. i just wanted to know if this will help the eel and will it affect my other fish

In my 300ltr/65g tank i have:
1 golden severum
6 angel fish
1 ruby shark
2 bumblebee catfish
1 zigzag eel
1 ropefish
2 clown loach
2 rams
4 prescilla x-ray tetras
2 black neon tetras
1 leapord syno catfish
1 plec
1 golden zebra loach
oh and the moray

any suggestions are very much appreciated.

One teaspoon of salt per 10 gallons is not brackish water. It will have no affect on your fish, but neither will it help your eel.

Minimum salinity for a moray eel has to be about 25% seawater salinity, i.e., around SG 1.005. In practise that's about 9 grammes of sea salt per litre. (As a rough guide, 6 grammes of salt is one level teaspoon.)

Only some of your fish live in brackish water in the wild, specifically: severums, clown loaches, ropefish, pristella tetras, and plecs. None of the others live in brackish water. But even those listed are only found in very low-end conditions, I'd guess around SG 1.002-1.003 in specific gravity terms. What that means is that NONE of your fish is suitable for a brackish water tank alongside the moray.

Realistically, return the moray of set up a tank for it where you can keep it in brackish water. In any event, it will eat all the small fish, so simply isn't part of this community.

Cheers, Neale

Also in case you do not already know, table salt is useless. So is "aquarium salt". You need salt for marine tanks such as Instant Ocean.
