do you think mixing flourite and pool filter sand is good for plants?

right now i have the flourite under the sand with the sand completeky covering it, but will mixing the flourite with the sand give better contact for the roots with the flourite, providing more nutrients for the plants? Or will it totally screw up somehow?

Interesting, I would have done it the other way around-- florite on top of the sand. The sand is good for getting a bacteria colony going for filtration-- florite is actually a pretty good planting medium. I have a mix of coral sand and florite in my 20g . . . then again the only plants in there are sagiterria and crypts-- man does sag grow fast . . .

i would have too, but the sand looked too good on top :D

Did you try putting in a piece of lettuce overnight to attract the snails?

i dont have a snail problem after i switched from gravel to sand... the sig is just a reminder of just how evil they can be.

but the question still sits unanswered...
