the other day i was in my old LFS and noticed they were selling male and female juvi bettas. i was tempted to buy a female untill i noticed there was 3 females and 7 males! the poor things were fighting like crazy! i think the female had stress stripes, the shop assistant said that its ok to keep male and female juvies together, is he right?

It's ok to keep them together when they are babies, up until they become aggressive. They are VERY wrong!

If there fighting they should seperate them, poor things.

its like the lady who came into my shop saying her male had kiled her female betta. after talking a while, the shop where she went had sold her a 15L tank with some gravel and one plastic plant. they said they would be fine living together as long as she provided a place to hide if he got agressive  tis sad more places dont know what theyre talking about

When we bought our male betta (rip) the guy in the shop said to us "would you like a couple of girlfriend's to live with him?" so me not knowing had two females. After 3 days the male had died, poor guy. This wasn't even from a normal pet shop it was from a specific fish/aquatic shop.

I went into my LFS over the weekend to look at their new female bettas, and unfortunately for them there was a young male in the batch. When I informed them, they got him out into his own tank straight away :good: . Some aquatic stores only care about sales, others will care for the fish. It's just finding the right places to get your fish.
