I got a tank full of fish a few weeks ago (tank 2 in my profile), Haivng problems with the tank, basically trying to clean it, it was filthy, doing water changes every 2 days and still one of the black widows has red gills, 3 guppys have fin rot and teh plec has a tiny hole in his fin which I suspect is fin rot. Been treating them with myxazin, going to move onto to melafix now. Tested water yesterday ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 60/80 depending how you interpret the colour, too high anyway! 25% water change again today.
The tank has a mirrored background, personally I don't like it, my husband does, I think it makes the tank look dirty plus the rainbow shark rarely comes out of hiding which I think may have to do with the mirror. When he does come out he scurries about like something possesed and goes back into hiding as soon as possible. Also the black widows are always squaring up to their own reflections. Could the mirror be stressing these fish out? The tetras and neons and even the swordtails dont seem to mind it.
