Merging 2 Tanks Together

Hi all, i'm having to merge my fry tank with my adults tank for a while since i'm treating both tanks for white spot. Do you think i should wash off (tap water) the fry filter sponge before i put it into the adult tank?

Never wash off a filter sponge with tap water. It kills all the benefical bacteria.

Assuming the fry survive the treatment, why do you want to merge them? Why not just treat seperately that way you can control the treatment easier for the fry.

Also if you do merge why would you want to put your fry filter in the main tank, you will surely already have a filter running in the main one.

Also if you do merge why would you want to put your fry filter in the main tank, you will surely already have a filter running in the main one.

Hi, I was going to put both filters in so they would both be treated at the same time. I would then put the 4 month old fry back into there tank with there filter which would be rid of ick.

If you just treat both tanks seperately you will hav more chance of the fry surviving imo
