Oh wow. Check out the lighting on the second to last pic. Absolutely amazing. Great shots!
What sort of camera did you use?

I use a Canon 350D also known as the Rebel XT in the US. Not a top line DSLR but perfect for newbies like myself as an introduction into the world of Digital SLR Photography. And thanks for the comments as its nice to receive feedback "good and bad" kinda lets you know your heading in the right direction or if you need to rethink your approach. :)

Yeah SugarQube we had an awesome holiday weather was superb the entire fortnight and the storms you see were the very night before our flight home, infact all of the new structure at menorca airport was torn down by them the same evening (give you an idea of how bad they were).

Great photo's and you've used a camera I'd like myself when I can afford it. :)

Cheffi you wont go far wrong with the 350D and prices should drop very soon as the 400D is now available (i wouldnt upgrade) as the 350 does everything you need (8 mega pixels is enough for any great pic) no need to upgrade to 10.

One word of advice if you see a cheap one without the kit lense BUY IT as the lens is worth squat and you will more than likely leave it lying at home or sell it to fund something better. (buy a decent aftermarket one from Sigma if you cant afford the Canon upgrades).

Only thing to watch for is dust on the sensor "problem with all lower end DSLR's" but easily sorted.

Did you buy just the body? Which lens have you got on it kev? I'm always worried about buying 2nd hand. I'll prob go for new, it's on my Christmas list, but then so were my tortoises and I've got them now so maybe I can slip the camera in again. ;)

I bought it complete with the kit lens, but in my oppinion it was a waste of cash as ive used it once.
I chose to buy a canon EF-S 17-85mm IS USM and a EF 28-135mm IS USM (cheap from the states), i have since purchased a sigma 15-30mm EX which can be bought very cheap and is a nice lens also as the other canon lenses are very expensive id go for the Sigma 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 DC Lens as it offers far supperior quality compared to that of the standard EFS 18-55 kit lens that comes with the camera.

Ive tried all kinds of telephoto but would say your wasting your time unless you plan on purchasing top notch stuff or if using cheaper lenses a tripod is a must (i found anything over 200mm was a pain with more blurred pics than keepers when shooting un supported).

Do the Canon digital SLR cameras work with the USM lenses I have for my now dead EOS 100?

Yep all the canon digital slr's are an EF fit, although due to the APS-C sized sensors of the 350D they have a crop factor of 1.6x so would make a 60mm lens have a size of 96mm if you get my drift.

I have also heard good things about the sigma lenses. So for macro which is the best one to get?

Cheffi pop over to this site http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ and check out their lens section or the macro dedicated section (mind alot of these guys constantly rant about buying the Canon L series lenses but we arnt all stinking rich) ive heard good things of the Tamron 90mm and comes home alot cheaper than the canon gear.
