Hi,
I have a tank planted with some vallis, swords and java fern. I have just under 2 watts/gallon and I am looking for something to use to carpet an area of sand and some slate. I am new to planted tanks and relativley new to fish keeping in general so I don't want anything too complicated.

I also have a problem with brown algae(diatoms) covering the leaves on my java ferns and swords - hoping to clear this up with some ottos soon but I'm concerned that the covered leaves won;t recover. Any ideas?

Cheers

you can try java moss.

it's pretty adaptable and will grow under any light. does not require CO2 and can be wrapped around anything (slate, wood, rock etc..) and will soon attach itself permanently to the object.

if you get a flat piece of slate you can lay java moss all over it, tie a hairnet over the top and in a month or so it'll have covered the net and you'll have a movable carpet for the tank.

I have some Echindorius Agustafolus that was doing pretty well when I only had 1.75 WPG, and now that I have 2.5, it has just taken off. I have so many runners that I can't tell which plant they are coming off of.
