Hi all, just got a new angel, ill post sum pics in a minute but she is gold and white, she's very small and lovely!!! What shud i call her????? :hyper:

Ummm how do you know it's female? I was under the impression that there was no way to sex Angels unless they're actually breeding!

My 4 angels are over 2 years old and I still don't know what I've got. They pick at each other all the time although they never hurt each other. I can't really tell that any 2 have paired off so I almost assume I hae 4 males or 4 females. But s mentioned, sexing is pretty much impossible although some people say you can tell by the shape of the top of the head in adults.

I have been told that as well,
The males apparently have the bump on their head and females have the flatter head

This is the part between where the eyes are and the tip of the nose

You can guess with about 80% accuracy with adults, as long as they are settled in & happy with their environment. Males will show the nunchal hump a little more, but not always. Often the females are a little smaller & fatter for fish the same age, but not always.

You can also do a cooler water change, and feed something good & meaty like bloodworms, then watch their behavior. Often males are more aggressive, while females will be a little more interested in finding a good spawning area, once again, not always.
