How can u tell the difference between a male and a female angelfish?

I think it's very difficult to determine the gender on angels.Even people who breed them have problems telling the two genders apart.Usually one has to wait 'till spawning takes place.

there are a few ways.. Not sure if they are 100% but i guess it helps.

males, There throat is kinda in a V shape, (like adams apple) and they will have sorta a lump on there head.

Female, the throat is more rounded, not so much of a lump.

Males tend to be more aggressive, and grow faster bigger stronger

The only sure way to tell the sex of an angelfish is by seeing their genital papillae which can only be viewed when the fish is ready to breed. The males papillae is pointed and the females is rounded.

There are other "theories" but none have been right 100% of the time
