does anyone here feed their fish fly maggots? if so where do u get them from? are they ok from the bin?

Depends on size of fish I suppose....
Tried feeding to large killifish once but were rejected'
Maybe larger cichlids would feed on them.

From the bin??????

No. I wouldn't feed maggots to my fish. Plenty of other available alternatives if you don't buy them for fishing anyway.

i wouldnt they could carry all sorts of diseases and parasites.

if you want maggots, squats etc go to your local angling shop, as fisherman use these as bait, fish eat stuff like that in the wild so as long as they fit in there mouth why wouldn't they eat them, i would imagine shop reared maggots would be free from disease but im not sure :)

indeed, most of the live/frozen food sold for tropical fish is essentially insect larvae or similar, as are maggots. Of course in the wild fish would eat these and be fine, but the diseases and parasites come from the environment the larvae are in, and if maggots dont pick up these things in bins then they wouldnt pick them up anywhere.
