so right now my tank is low brack at 1.005sg but i will most likely, sometime in the future, convert to med/high brack. Im just wondering about the Beneficial bacteria. Will the current bacteria in it now slowly convert to high saline water or at some threshold will i need to introduce a high brack/marine bacteria that is not naturally in the tank water?

In theory the freshwater strains of bacteria die off around SG 1.003 at 25 C and get replaced by the marine ones. That's what my reading of the lab work on the various bacteria suggests should happen, anyway! In practise though, provided you very slowly raise the salinity, perhaps a "notch" up the scale each week, i.e., 1.003 to 1.004, 1.004 to 1.005, etc., you shouldn't see any dip in water quality. Marine bacteria will develop as the freshwater ones die off.

Cheers, Neale
