HI there

Can someone help with my cory julii,Tank rena 216 litre,It was fine 8am when i fed the fish, but since has remained on the bottom not moving.
Can ph 8 cause my cories to become ill?
Tank is an upgrade from a 20 gal nearly 3 weeks ago, water readings have been zero, used the cloned media from small tank to this one, tested twice daily since ammonia/nitrite have remained zero

pH: 8
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 20 (tap 10)
kH:
gH:
tank temp:26.8

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Cory julii,no lesions, normal colour, fed this morrning, did eat, seemed fine, but since has remained on the bottom very still, the others go near it,it doesn't move, just sits there swaying,i tried to catch it and it shot off around the tank,so i didn't want to stress it to much, its very young and small compared to the others.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25% every week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:prime, tetratec ex700 external, aquaflow 100 internal.

Tank inhabitants: 10 harlequins,4 silvertip tetras,5 cory julii and 6 platies

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 6 cory julii a week ago,one died 3 days ago similar m.o. 4 tetras 4 days ago

Exposure to chemicals: none

Edited to add all other fish are fine incl the other corys at the moment

Sounds like the batch of corys may have been dodgy to me, doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. I bought 4 dwarf corys about 4 weeks ago and only have one left. Perhaps they're just a bit sensitive.

Cories do seem to sulk sometimes. Other times when they're sitting still they are simply sitting around watching teh world go by. Fish do need to rest sometimes. Maybe he's just particularly tired today - could have been up all night!

Make sure he isn't being bullied. If you have a hospital tank you could separate him so that he can get some rest just incase he is ill.

Its gonna be a cas of "wait and see".

Sounds just like all cories to me tho.

Does the cory look bloated or thin.
Is the cory acting listless and lethagic.
Does it look pale or darker in colour.
is the cory resting to oneside.
What does it look like when the corys goes to the toilet.

Does the cory look bloated or thin.-Looks thin, very small anyway
Is the cory acting listless and lethagic. - yes
Does it look pale or darker in colour. -hard to say, maybe paler
is the cory resting to oneside. it does tend to lean to one side
What does it look like when the corys goes to the toilet. unsure

Bless Him.
R.I.P.

Did the cory lose weight due to not eating.
It could of been bacterial, need to rule out internal parasites also,.

He was eating before he became ill

They were very small when i bought them last week, the lfs said they were youngsters.

Now another one is showing the same symptoms,he looks darker than the other corys?

i got some interpet 9 for internal infections today is it worth trying?

They seem to die so quick, within 12 hours of not moving they die!

I added some interpet 9 last night, just to be on the safe side.fish seem to go a bit skitish after i put it in,(i diluted it in warm water)

Anyway little cory is still alive this morning, only just i think,he hasn't eaten anything and just sits on the bottom, every now and then he makes a dart up to the top of the water then swims back to the floor and stays there!!

I have turned the airpump up to compensate the meds being in and the filters are breaking the top of the water,so hopefully there's enough oxygen in there.

Is there anything else i can do?

Alas this cory died also

Thats 3 small cories within the week

The other 3 look ok for now....

I measured this cory he was only 2.5cms long,no signs on body,no red gills, marks, spots nothing!body wasn't slimy

I just not destined to keep them!

Bless them. R.I.P.
it sounds like you got a bad batch. It sounded like a bacterial infection.
I would keep going with the bacterial med to be on safe side.
