Hello all,

New to posting in these forums but have been a long time lurker. I've been in the tropical fish game for about 7 years now, still learning quite a bit everyday, but at a point where I feel 'comfortable' with my level of knowledge. This one has me confused though... 5 years ago I built a new 75gal tank which has housed 2 common plecos, 3 silver dollars, and 5 tetras (The tetras were added about a two years ago from someone who didn't want their tank anymore).

The plecos however; yesterday I came home from a football game and found one of them dead. This morning I woke up to the second one dead. I just did a water test and nothing came back out of the norm. The temperature was a little high, but only by about 2 degrees. Nothing that would normally concern me. I have no added any new fish recently, or used any new chemicals or anything.

Is there anything else I should check for that could cause both these guys to die within 24 hours? Or is this possibly just a really bad coincidence?

Thank you all very much.

:(

Sorry for your losses.

How long or how old are the plecos?
As well as how big were they?

A couple of degrees higher than norm would not noramlly corncern me if just short term but how long has the temp been higher than normal?

Have you made any changes to the tank recently, such as changing substrate or did a big gravel vac/clean recently or even a new filter etc ?

Most of these may be unlikely as you do not mention any other losses or signs of distress on any other tank stocking.

have you changed anything of your water change routine or added any medications ?

Just trying to get a picture of how your tank is, hence these questions.
