Well, well. A year after shipping out my Livebearers (I wanted a quiet life), I'm feeding my little darlings their fave frozen brinshrimp last night when, and I don't know why, I looked at the opposite end of the tank to see a tiny single tranparent fry minding it's own business near the external filter intake. It only took me nearly two hours to catch the little sod but, fortunately, I had kept the fry trap I'd bought three years ago and never used.
Now here's the strange bit; in the last year I've not seen the slightest hint of eggs anywhere in the tank and I haven't added any plants for a good three or four months, so they can't have been carrying any eggs. This thing is tiny, I can't believe I even saw it; it must only just have used its sac. I keep Harlequin Rasboras, Cardinal Tetras, Pencilfish, Pentazona Barbs and Otos. Since the beginning of March (when I changed from an internal filter to a Tetratec external) the Pencilfish have been constantly in the mood. What are the odds of just one egg surviving to be free-swimming. The only think I can think now is ''Well, if ONE has survived....................''
