Looking For Some Bottom Feeders

Im looking into getting some bottom feeders but im not totally sure which to get. Ive heard a lot of good things about cory cats but I wanted to know my other options. Also as far as algea eaters go how well are shrimp at taking care of the job?

a school of dwarf loaches make a nice little crew of bottom feeders, the don't get massive, and they are so fun to watch!!

Can't say about shrimp. Otos are good for small tanks as well as nerite snails.
Haven't had loaches, yet. But you can't go wrong with cories.

What is the job you need doing so to speak? Picking up waste food or algae cleaning or both or?
 
EDIT: I noticed from your other post you have two Angelfish.
Shrimp are not the best idea as when the Angelfish get bigger they will eat the shrimp.
 
Anything else you have in the tank currently?

Corydoras, they are amazing little fish and don't get too big they are also very docile and don't pick on others make sure you get 3 or more!

The optimal number is debatable, but with social fish like cories one should have as many as you have space for. Thier behavior changes dramaticaly in larger numbers.

hey Fishaholic and everyonelse thanks for the posts! To answer your question no I had an invasion of ich (first encounter) and it took 4 of my fish

but my angels lived so that's awesome... now I suppose its a matter of going with the cory's or loaches. For my 25 gallon tank how many would you suggest. I'm also probly going to get some new fish here soon but I am going to wait one more week to make sure all of the ich is gone before I add some new ones.

and the purpose is mostly for clean up crew as angel fish are messy eaters and for some reason I don't get a lot of algea build up in my tank so I don't need much when it comes to that.

Corycats are certainly much more sociable and in my opinion more fun to watch, as they're always so "busy". On the other hand, some people love the look and personalities of loaches, but I personally am not a huge fan of loaches like dojos and kuhlis....the only loaches I really like are hillstream loaches, which require a special setup.
