Hi,
I am looking to buy a "surprise" exotic fish for my boyfriends tank. He has the sixty gallon tank in my profile. He keeps trying to buy new different pretty fish however we always seem to be miseducated and they usually end up being brackish. Such as the "freshwater"moray eel (who i know now is actually marine) that died by the time we figured out he needed more salt, and the most recent wasp fish who are now in my brackish tank. We research before buying fish but it feels like when you try to branch out there is not a lot of information on the species (waspfish) or the information is wrong( moray eel). So now I figure I will start here first so as not to end up in the same situations. I really want to find a fish that is more rare and still really pretty. We frequent a lot of fish shop to look and haven't really found anything. I am looking to stay under sixty dollars if possible. Also, his golden gourami is kind of a beast and his tank is aggressive (as you can see in the profile) so it would have to be a fish that can handle its own. I have a "fish guy" who is willing to order almost anything...i am just stumped as to might work...

Thanks in advance!

I think you're pretty much fully stocked as it is. The only thing I would add would be another one or three rainbows but the money would go better towards the larger brackish tank you need IMO.

How about a 5g shrimp cube?

not going to make any suggestions for what you should get, don't know enough about the fish in your profile to know what you have room for. I don't mean to be negative but you shouldn't have the african cichlid in with the rest of those fish, it requires a different ph so either it or the rest of your fish will be unhappy cohabiting :/

Thanks. The mono is about three and a half inches, the scat about an inch and a half and the puffer is about an inch so I am not too worried about the tank right now....the plan for the future is to eventually get a 100+. But thanks for the advice, I know it can sound like it is too small until you hear the fish are still babies.

Hi, sorry about calling it an African cichlid...it is actually just a small south american little guy. I fixed it in my profile. Thanks for pointing it out ! ;)
