All puffed up: Jeremy Gay visits a reader who has a house full of puffers.

Stuff you need to know about nano tanks: Fancy setting up a nano tank? Here are the things you need to consider before you do.

Who says livebearers are boring: Dr Neale Monks looks at the more unusual livebearers.

Plants for the people: The high-tech route is not for everyone. George Farmer looks at a simpler, lower cost and lower maintenance option.

High and mighty: How one reader built a hole-in-the-wall reef tank.

Enter the dragonet: Scott Michael on dragonets for the reef aquarium.

Plus a Shoptour of Lincolnshire, the latest fish to buy in Interesting Imports and lots more.

omg! TWO of our member's have Top 7 articles! how on earth did i miss that!

--EDIT2--
wow, i really fail at this sort of thing... i totally meant to post this in ChitChat.

Well done guys. :good:

Thanks! I have to admit to finding TFF a great source of inspiration when I'm trying to come up with topics to write about. This month's piece -- "So you think livebearers are boring" -- was pretty much based on conservations I'd had with members here through PMs and articles. It's my reply to everyone who thinks livebearers are only fit for beginners -- that's so not true!

Cheers,

Neale

Indeed. I've just finished a mini-series on nano planted tanks. There's at least ten nano journals on here now, soon to be many more with the PFK Aqua Cube. And don't forget the forthcoming aquascaping contest!

So let me get this straight, I'm not in the UK so I know that pfk is a magazine but are you guys members of the writing staff on it or do you submit a article and hope they publish it or am I completely wrong? Congratulations though, hope this isn't a stupid question

Not a stupid question at all Austin.

Neale and I are both regular contributors, although Neale has been for a while longer. We are both also on the PFK "Ask the Expert" panel where the public can e-mail or write in their queries. A bit like here really but more formal.

We still have to submit articles and "hope" they get published though. Sometimes they'll commission stuff too.

It's a rewarding job, I still get excited about seeing my work in the magazine and the thought of it possibly boosting the hobby. Next year I'm off to Denmark to visit the Tropica HQ (where they grow the world famous aquarium plants).

This sounds cool ! Will be interesting to see how they grow all the plants and on such a large scale!
Is this trip pfk related? Ie are they funding it for you to do a report on it?

I'd be very interested to see many many photos either way!

wow.. great job guys.. :good:

I wonder if they sell pfk here in Malaysia.. Shall search for it in the future :)

I thoroughly enjoyed that article, Neale, well written and a nice range of fish featured. One day you will tempt me into halfbeaks, I know it. You and Russell between you will lead me to my doom -_- .

I was pleased to see the portholes featured, couldn't ask for a nicer little fish IMO. And compared to the standard livebearers they are right little toughies. I'd just been thinking I could fit some heterandrias in one of my small tanks.

I'm pretty sure you have to get a subscription for it outside of the UK. I've never seen it for sale anywhere in the U.S. and the website states for international readers they must subscribe to get it.
