Long Lasting Friendship

love my dogs, but they are what they are… Mrs. family used to raise St. Bernard’s, but I put my foot down on getting one , for a couple reasons… they are cockle-burr magnets, and I used to get knocked in the ditch all the time when road training for track in high school, so I’m not just interested in getting one… but pretty easy to see, cave men were able to use the help of a canine

MagnumMan, your St, Bernards reminded me of when we lived in DE. Senator Roth (of Roth IRA fame) was running again & brought his St. Bernard puppy to a grocery store I shopped at. Poor thing got overexcited & bit someone. I'm glad it wasn't me, lol.

We had a Keeshund & after she died my husband has been too heartbroken to ever have another dog...yet? It's been 30+ years...Too soon, inappropriate yard, etc. I still have slight hopes but they're dimming.

Life without a dog would be poor indeed for me. I find the understanding we can develop with an animal that's very different from us to be endlessly fascinating. They're dogs, and we're humans, but with the long association of our species with each other, we have developed some abilities to read one another that stop me dead in my tracks sometimes.

When you think of the big picture, that's quite a journey together.

I don't know - horses make great pets and of course cats are - wait didn't we have this discussion recently in another thread ?
