I had 2 swordtails in my 37 gal, a male and a female. After a disaster with meth blue, I lost the male yesterday. That leaves a a female all on her own with 4 golden barbs, 3 pearl gourami's, 4 diamond tetras, 1 plec, 1 rtbs and 2 khuli loaches. I don't really want to leave her in there on her own, feel kinda sorry for her, so I could either get more swords or move her into my 17 gal which has 6 mollies and 2 female guppies and is semi brackish.

What do you think?

i would just leave it, if you really want more it will have fry in a month.

while where talking about tanks, what pleco do you have? some are tank busters and i wanna make sure you dont get in that predicament.

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply. She's never had fry in the 5 months I've had her. It's a long story but it was a rescue job, basically I rescued her and her tank mates, rehomed some of them, lost some of them as they were in a bad way, things were settling down when they got flukes, hence the meth blue disaster, got amonia which obviously finshed the male off, the female seems healthy but I don't think she'll ever give me fry unless I got another male of course! Will she be happy enough as the only sword in a community tank?

And the plec, yes, again this was another rescue. He's a common plec, about 8" from head to tail at the moment and I know he'll outgrow the tank. When the time comes I'll either get a bigger tank or rehome him.

females can store sperm up to 6 months without a male.

il bet you she has had fry and the golden barbs, pearl gourami's, diamond tetras, and the RTB have ate them.
