Live Sand In Brackish?

Can you use live argonite sand in brackish tanks,if you rinse it to get rid of the marine bacteria? Ive got some left over from when i was setting up my marine tank...its this one http/www.paraquatics.co.uk/en-gb/dept_145.html

How long ago did you set up your marine tank?

Live argonite sand only has a shelf life of about 6-12 months.

I cant think of any problems using it, but its an expensive way to fill your tank, for no added benefit.

If you rinsed the sand in tap water it would not be very "live" after you were done. What would be the point? Just put it it as it is.

You would need to let the tank cycle before adding livestock tho, the different salinities would kill alot of the goodies in the sand, but I am sure some would live that will help the tank later.

I added the sand to the marine tank straight away,without washing it duh! I was saying to wash it before i put it in the brackish tank. I just thought since i paid £25.00 for it and left with a little bit i might aswell use it.
So anyways,i rinsed it real good and added it to my Figure 8 puffer tank and its great
