hi after a bit of help i av a 6ft tank which is 24inch deep can someone give me advice on the best lighting to get the ones i have in at the mo are not very bright im after lighting the tank up so it lookes bright and not dull i have to keep my wooden hood shut otherwise my cats would never go hungry

try a new bulb in the lighting unit as the one you have may well be old and o very dull...

if not add a second light unit and bulb that can be done relatively cheaply.

as for the sort of bulb that would depend on what type of that you have...,

next time try posting in the beginers questions section as this will get seen more

You could try a large strip of T-5 High Output or Power Compact Flourescent. They would suffice if you wanted to have a planted tank.
