ok i am going to set up a 2.5 gallon tank to put two dwarf puffers in, i want to add some real plants but wanted to know about the lights. i have a small light, but i dont know what it is. what kind of light is the bare minimum that i can get for just a couple of little plants in this small aquarium ?
also i have a 10 gallon with some neons and corys and angels that i want some real plants in, i saw at walmart they had a flourescent bulb that fits the hood that came with it, will that be ok for a couple plants also ?
thanks !

your just going to need a basic flour bulb for such a small tank like a 2.5 gallon
I dont think its a good idea to put 2 puffers in a very small tank like that............. a 10g is considerd small for them
As for the ten gallon use that fixture but try to find a good plant bulb for it

which plants do you want??? even if they are small ones, they could require high lighting depending on the type, so be sure to check that out.

well i went to walmart and go a 6500k light bulb in the fish dept. and it is amazing, i was told by others that this light will work for some plants and keep them alive ? i mean if all else fails this light has brought new colors to my tank and thats plents, keeping plants would be great though ! so can i ?

I've read somewere here that k stands for how the light "looks" either too white or too yellow, what you want to know its the Watts since that is how you know for sure if the amount of Watts per Gallon is the adequate to your plants needs. Maybe that wont be much of a problem because of the size of your tank though, just keep that in mind if you upgrade it or something :)
