Okay I already figure I should do a water change but like....

My mom is the only one able to feed them and last time I left and she fed my fish I came back and one died from being over fed.

Soooooo yeah.

Tank Specs
20 gallon long
10 glo light tetra
1 male betta fish
3 Adf
Multiple Shrimp
3 dwarf otto

Should I try to feed all of them with an algae wafer and some blood worms then just leave it at that? Or show her the specific amount they get fed and write down a schedule... Or will they be fine without food for a week?

Fish can go up to 2 weeks without food, although it's not advisable. Your fish will be fine for a week if you feed them before you leave :good:

Awesome thanks well as a precaution I let her know I'd call when I want them to be fed half a blood worm pellet figure in three days would be good.

You can also put in a couple weekend feeders. Thats what my friend does when she goes away and the fish do great.

Or you could measure out each days' food into small plastic bags or one of those pill dispensers with a compartment for each day. Don't forget to hide the food tubs just in case your mom thinks you're not giving them enough.

If your that concerned I'd just leave two pre-measured bags & ask Mom to feed them say Tuesday then Friday. You know then they'll have enough to tide them over for a few days, no problem. Oh yes and hide the rest of the food :)

Thanks I decided on the idea of asking her to chop a blood worm pellet in half On Friday since i left on Tuesday, and Come back on Tuesday. Figure its the closest I can get to the middle I told her i'd call her to instruct her through it x3

OH yeah if I was leaving for longer I'd totally do that that's a great idea. With the first fish she ended up over feeding she gave it a nice sized pinch of flakes and a few pellets, It was the only fish in the tank and it was a betta.
