Lava Rock

can i put lava rock in normal tropical tank, what is the advantage ? i was told mostly it is used in salt water. But i heard some ppl use it as filter media as well.

so, wot should i do.

I also have a tank full of apple snails, should i put them there? just in case it might have some calcuim for the snail?

Hi,
I have lava rock in my biotope, its fine, just make sure that you run it under cold water for a good while first (until it stops fizzing) its inert too, so it wont affect the water.
I dont know about the snails but i reckon they'll be fine too, cant think of anything that would affect them.

2 of my tanks are planted, so i think it prefer slight soft water.

as for the snail tank, it prefers hard water full of calcuim, good for the shell of snails.


so i could put rock in both tanks? i got quite a lot of them
