One of my favorite dwarf cichlids. The fry's first day of swimming and eating!

Cool fry, what are you feeding them? I was looking for the L. Curviceps but I cannot find them. Quite colourful.
Due to their small size, I feed them Micron Fry food and micro worms. In a few days, they will be big enough for newly hatched BBS.

I, too, was looking for curviceps when I ordered 6 from Quinn's Fins in Florida. They shipped 7 juveniles and I was pleased they were actually dorsigera because they are more colorful when displaying their red breast. Many sellers do not know the difference! So far, I have two breeding pairs and they are excellent parents...also, very entertaining.

That is good, since those foods are packed with nutrients. The BBS are a bit tedious, but after about 3 times growing them, they get less annoying to grow. I have a lot of experience since I used to breed the bettas and feed the fry BBS after yolk-consumption.

They really made the mistake of sending an extra, and a completely wrong species? I understand that was actually more appealing to you but I would have been very upset. I like to buy without shipping since I live in Canada so US shipping is a bit more difficult and pricey, plus as you just showed, they give you the wrong fish. I have shipped blue emperor tetras that ended up as black emperor tetras that were half dead and I had to treat them for eye fungus + fin rot. Another time I was shipped ghost shrimp instead of amanos.

Like you, I have also bred bettas as well as many other fish. With most things new to us, there is a learning curve and time needed for fine-tuning. Same thing applies to raising micro worms and vinegar eels. It is a great asset to have live food when raising fish.

I don't consider dorsigera and curviceps to be that different and prefer to have the added color of the red breast. I also didn't mind have them send an extra one at no charge. If that would leave them with an orphan, I would probably have done the same.

Although I am, like you, a Canadian, I have been here long enough to spell words like "flavour" differently, say "sack" instead of "bag" but end a statement with "thank you" instead of "of course". Have a beer, eh?:drinks::rock:

Haha, I say "bag," but for me saying "flavor" is weird. It is "flavour," and will always be for me. I don't bother with the "thank you" when I am online on a forum.

It says your from Northern Cali, you moved to US? I thought about it for a while and am still. This country is not what it used to be, but nevertheless I am Canadian and politics aren't supposed to go with fishkeeping.

Hey, saying flavor/flavour is the same. But the difference is when you spell it. Same as when you say or spell liberal or conservative. Politics and fishkeeping should be separate on both sides of the border IMHO.

Yes, I was transferred (exiled) to the US by a Canadian company that thought I wasn't a team player. That, like getting a free fish, was a stroke of luck!

But, I am still a boringly polite Canadian who says "thank you" more often than I should:thanks::yahoo:...
