I have 4 cories and 5 striped kuhli loaches. Theyre in a community tank, i used to feed them hikari micro wafers but then i realized that kuhlis and cories probably don't get a feed so i bought hikari sinking wafers for them. Now i feed other fish first before adding the sinking wafers for the bottom feeders but the gouramis and guppies even eat the sinking wafers, again kuhlis don't get a chance. What should i do to make sure everyone gets fed????

You could try adding food for the bottom feeders after the tank light has gone out and just the room light on.

Or you might, once or twice a week, have to 'overfeed' the tank so you know enough food has got down to them. Do that the day before a W/C day, and don't feed them the day after either.

ok ill try those, thanks for your suggestion.

My kuhli loaches have their own feeding corner in the tank and I use a turkey baster to deliver the food straight to that bottom corner. Using this method at the same time every day/night, they'll train to that area quickly and will come get their fill as soon as the food hits the substrate!

I wouldn't overfeed even once per day. That's just asking for water quality issues. Rotting food scattered at the bottom of the tank is no good for them either. Even scavengers prefer fresh food!

Let your other fish get their fill of whatever it is you're feeding them, and then give the bottom feeders their food in "their" spot. Using a turkey baster for smaller foods or a pair of tongs for larger wafers can allow you to avoid just having the food slowly sink to the bottom so that the other fish don't get to watch it sink and lick their lips.

I have had the same problem with several different types of fish trying to eat my corys and kuhli loaches food. My solution was to feed the kuhlis in the thick weed. No other fishes can comfortably go in there!!! The corys are fed on the one side of the tank wile the others are fed on the other side.
