Yesterday I've purchased a juvenile male king lyre swordtail at my friend's store. This male was swimming in a tank with regular red swordtails My friend wasn't even aware of it that this concerned a king lyre swordtail. A king lyrel swordtail male will have his regular sword formed by his outer lower caudal fin rays. But he's got also a short elongated translucent top sword formed by his outer top fin rays. And also the first dorsal fin rays will be elongated. But this juvenile male hasn't developed them fully yet.
And he's got a single red spot over his right eye.
