I'm looking to buy a Juwel Rio 125 in beech wood. I have had tropical / marine before now getting back into it.

I like this tank because of the size but the only problem is i dont want all internal filters etc and i would like the tank pre-drilled. is there any sujestions of are one with pictures + mods. or a better tank sujestion?

Cheers

Tom :good:

The internal filter housing is only held by a few blobs of a soft, silcon type glue. You can easily cut through it with a brand new Stanley knife blade, ensuring that you cut in a direction that is away from the silicon holding the tank together in that corner. I have been led to believe that what remains on the glass could be rubbed off using your finger.

i removed my juwel filter in exactly that way... it took ten minutes at the most.

however, juwel do not sell tanks without the equipment, so if thats what your are looking for then you are out of luck/

ok so i can cut the filter out, but how would i connect an external filter as i would like it with no pipes commin up the back of the tank. drilled?

i dont know if u have a set limit for space.

but this tank does an external filter: i realise its the next size up, but at least it comes with an external. will keep looking...

i would strongly reccomend you DON'T connect an external filter directly to the bottom of your tank via a drilled bulk head... that would mean the filter gaskets are taking the entire pressure of the water in your tank... and they are not designed to do that.

it really is a lot of expense and hassle in my opinion to drilled a tank just to hide one pipe... if you needed a sump to hide loads to gear, thats different. TBH you can get an external filter and heater for very little money and these are invisible if you decorate your tank well.

for the same price you can get a drilled seabray tank.
a decent LFS will be able to order you one

theres a slight recess in the back of the tank for electrical cables in the rio ... i don't think its big enough for the tubing for the filter but i don't think that the rear cover would stick up much.

have you had a good look at the tank in a store?

When i had my RIO 180 i had a external filer and the gapbs where just big enough. However not sure if it would be the same on the 125 but imagine they'd be rather similar.

hmm i'm now confused!

I want no pipes just tank only and filter through the bottom. I have seen a few drilled tanks in the fish store and the guy said there good.

but now people on here say there not?

Do you have a model on that seabray tank???

no seabray tanks are custom built to your specs
there are several choices in cabinet and colour
the basic range is dolphin
then you have vinyl wrap followed by the top of the range
polished wood.

Any decent LFS will be able to order you a seabray tank :good:
