Hi - just joined today - that may be obvious!

Have two tanks at moment - one with two albino oscars and one which is a general community tank - Guppies, Neons and the like. I am still a novice really but I know to put water in the tank first before putting fish in!

Looks like a great website - I am coming up with various questions and did not know who to ask so I will be posting a few here to see what you guys think.

Hope to be getting your advise shortly ;)

Welcome Gill! Any question you have will surely be professionally answered!!! These people are the best! :hi: :hooray:

:D Thanks guys

I have posted my first question if any of you would like to offer any advise? Its under new world cichlids (as this seems to be where people discuss oscars)

any advise welcomed

thanks guys :)

Hello Gill,
Firstly let me welcome you to the forum.
Next, if you are an absolute beginner, may I direct you to the section, beginners questions. Then I suggest that you have a look at some of the "pinned" topics.
There are many of us here who are experienced fishkeepers, and some of us are as just fishkeepers. Either way most of us are linked by one common goal, and that is our love of fishkeeping. Enjoy your hobby and don't ever be stuck for an answer. If you need an answer.........just ask.

Hi Andrew :)

We have a 50 gal tank at the moment - i understand from previous notes on here that i will have to look into getting a bigger tank sooner or later - they came from a small tank (2ft!!!) for their size so i would say there are happy at the moment. :)

I have been keeping fish for a number of years now sucessfully (excluding the time when my external canister filter decided to empty all concents of 50 gal tank onto my floor when on holiday  , and the other time when my heater failed - rather than failing safe and go cold it cooked my treasured fish, :-( and when my other tanks seal decided to fail (luckily i was there that time)) :(

apart from the above, i have had happy fishkeeping days. :D

I am new however to oscars (had discus for a short time - these proved too difficult for me!)
