I've just read a profile about "platies" and it says there temperature is "18 - 28*c. Is this correct?

I've never kept platies or read up on them, but going by the post in the "Fish Profiles" forum on this site I'd say its wrong:

Says min temp is 24 deg. C.

I would think that 18 (about 64F) would be too low but I did find another profile that listed the temp range as 64 to 77. I don't keep platies though so it may well be correct.

agreed i think 18 is too low. i would say 23 ish would be the absolute minimum.

It depends because you can get sub-tropical platys. They go by the name of Variegated Platy I believe. They can tolerate 18-20*c.
