Is there such thing as too much filtration?
What do you guys think?

What is your set up? Filter, ariation, power heads, undergravel.
Tell me what all you have.

Im doing this to learn.

What type of filters do you have, and what do you think about them.

This is for my personal learning, and any one else who want to know about different types of filter systems out there

PEASE SHARE!!

Thank you

Yes and no. As far as filtration in it's self is concerned, you can't have too much. However, you can end up with too much current from over filtration depending on the fish you have. For instance, bettas generally don't like a lot of current. Strictly from a filtration standpoint, you could put a 100gph filter on a 5 gallon tank and have no problems but the current would be way too much for a betta or most any other fish too.

I try to get to 7 to 10 times the tank volume. My 29 gallon has a Whisper 60 (330gph) filter on it and my 75 has 2 Fluval 304s (260gph/520gph total) filters on it.

in big tank we have a fluval 3 running with a spraybar kit and it seems to be fine (now) and the fishes love it

nd in the betta tank we got a tetra filter running, the bettas like it slow so we get about 3 or 4 bubbles a minute give or take a bubble

there is no such thing as too much filtration
there is however the wrong type of filtration for your stock

yeah. personaly i think the same, never too much, i have on y 55g a HOB filter which i dont remember what kind it was but it appropiate size, and yester day i got a Fluval Canister filter, im thinking about getting an power head and puttng it towards the floor of the tank and not turning it up too high.
