Is my pleco making this mess???

I just rearranged my 20 gal tank yesterday, and I noticed these long stringy poop-like strands on the bottom of the tank. They are everywhere, and i was just wondering what they are??? do plecos do this? i have heard that they were messy but i never imagined so much poop. I mean its not excessively in big mounds or anything, but if you look you can see some. any ideas folks? SPANKS FOR UR HELP! ~dEx

Yeah...it's probably from the Plec. I have a Plec and he leaves similar "souvenirs" (sp?) of his presence...

Yeah, they're not the tidiest of fish. I have 3 small L#'s in a 29 alone and it has to be the messiest tank ever. I'm constantly in there stirring up poo

Yeah, plecos leave strings of poo. And a lot of it. Seriously, it will look like spagetti if you take it all out and put it into a bowl or something... If you look on the underside of your pleco, you might see a string of poo hanging from it's...uh...anus. That's the poo. It will constantly get longer, and you can see it! After a few seconds, it will start to push out and get longer and longer until it eventually comes off.

Yup, plecos the culprit. I've seen it in 'action', if you know what i mean 8) . Mine died, for no apparent reason. All the other fish were fine, no salt no nothing. Just gotta keep cleaning it up for your pleco (or you can potty train it,you know, come out and jump to the toilet bowl).

Oh, YEAH!!! Common Plecos get huge. They will grow a few feet long! And when they are that big, the poop will be big, too. Really! It'll be as thick as a pencil and and as long as the pleco himself. You'll be getting sooo much poop. Good luck...too bad there aren't any fish that eat poop...
