I know this gets asked all the time but is my tank over stocked i have a 3ft tank and its just under 2ft tall and i've got in it-
2x cory's
3x guppies
6x rasbora's
6x rosy tetra's
1x otto
1x Siamese algae eater
3x neons

Please let me know what you think because i dont want to end up over stocking if i already hav'nt.

Thanks.

Is your tank 12" deep... that is, is it 36"X24"12"? If so, it's more like a 45 gallon. Unless it's 30"X24X12" or 36"X24"10", then yes it is a 35 gallon.

Anyway, I would say no, you are not overstocked... but you need to work on the groups of fish you have. Otos should be in groups of 3 to 5 or more, cories 3 to 5 or more, neons 6+, and guppies 6+ (but you might want to rehome them especially if you don't want to deal with fry). Of course, if you upped all your schools, then (to me) you would be overstocked. So I'd rehome a couple of groups -- like the 3 guppies and 3 neons -- then you can get more cories and otos.

its a 36x24x15 and i would like to rehome the neons but i do like the guppies maybe i could get another tank just for them as for the cory's i have 1 bronze and 1 peppered they get along well and stay together wich i thought the wouldnt i was thinking of adding 4 panda cory's and i will definitly add some more oto's.

Thanks.

That tank is fine,it's under stocked.Get some more neons. It will be ok,atleast if you have adequate filtration. :good:

If those are the dimensions, then it's bigger than 35 gallons... more like 55 gallons. hmmm. If that's the case, then cheesyfeet is right and you are understocked and you don't need to rehome anyone. Just get more cories, otos, and neons. And you have enough room to keep the guppies where they are.

that tank is perfect

That tank is far from perfect, Best bet is to get more neons, more cory cats and more otos... so long as you have enough filtration you should be fine, even if the tank becomes slightly overstocked (which it won't IMO) you'll be fine...

you said you have 1 bronze and 1 peppered cory, best bet is not to get Panda corys and add 2 more bronze and 2 more peppered, trust me cory cats are alot happier shoaling with their own type of cory cats within the species (ie. peppered with peppered), for the Otos, I'd say get atleast 3 more, the neons get another 7, the guppies (unless all the same sex) will need more than 3. Although they can be happy kept in small shoals, they do to school because there is safety in numbers...

Even if you get all the guppies the same sex, the chances of getting any non-pregnant ones from the LFS are dam near impossible
