i collected a couple of rocks from a river yesterday and i did the vinegar test one one of them. it bubbled a little bit.

does this mean i can not use it?

You could probably use it, boil it first, but it may increase your pH and hardness

the vinegar test is where you drop a bit of vinegar onto the rock.

from what ive heard if it fizzes on the vinegar test you cant use it, im noot 100% sure tho so i would wait just incase im wrong

What kind of rock is it. Personally i would never trust a rock from the stream. Ya know polution and stuff.

no idea what rock it is. i collect rocks from rivers and streams all the time lol

I say boil it, let it cool, then do the vinegar test again. If it still fizzes, dont use it.

if it fizzes that means its/has traces of limestone which isnt healthy for fishies
