Whenever I was looking for a betta I saw this young-ish looking blue piebald betta. He was in a diatom-covered cup, yet he looked great. I loved him to pieces, but at the time I had an awful yellow-ish light, and was looking for a color range that would work in that lighting.

I passed by him for Azul, which is still alive today.

Whenever I walked into the store, I had an awful sight. That little piebald betta had grown, was swimming sideways, was so sick, and looked so sad. I about cried that I could have stopped his future from being like that.

Just needed to share that, is it just me? Or am I being weird?

never seen any betta's in those tiny cups over here, but i have seen pics and vids on the internet, makes me really sad! the worst ive seen here is betta's kept in really tiny tank divided into small square compartments, maybe a smoothe pebble chucked in there, and they all look really said, last time i popped into this certain store there was two betta's in one of these tiny compartments, i was horrified and simply had to take action so i bought one of them! knew they would probably hurt or even kill each other if i didnt, i just wish i could take them all home though and give them a lovely spacious planted tank :)

The chances are that any fish you buy will be re-stocked by the fish shop so that even if you 'save' one fish you are condemning another to the same fate.  Sorry that probably won't make you feel any better :(  But it's the reason I don't believe in buying sick or badly cared for fish.
