hi

i am using a underwater filter in my 3 gallon tank. and my 2 red and blue colombian tetra keeps "challenging" the jet of water that the filter spits out, and when they are not "challenging the get of water, they seem to be very active in swimming against the water flow...is this normal? wun they tire themselves up, or even stress themselves up and die? or is my filter to strong for the 3 gallon tank?

hmmm
what kind of filter is it? Is it a powerhead

I believe tetras prefer slower moving waters but don't quote me on that, I don't own any so I'm not sure ;)

its those that u submerge the whole filter underwater, at the bottom of the system, there are vents where water is sucked into the filter and all the dirts are deposited on the sponge inside the filter. then, the clean water is being spat out from a tube....

Hi eugene, most of my fish like swimmimg against the current. I think it makes them feel like they,re in a natural enviroment (river). I asked the same question a couple of months ago and the general consensus was that there should be "quiet" areas in the tank should they need to rest.

i hve a 3 gal tank and i use internal power filters, the outle should have a little movvy thing, so u can move the filters waterflow area, try it, u might not have realized, or maybe ur filter doesnt have one, if that doesnt work put a silk fake plant to break the flow, and... when the silk plant moves with the current, it look really cool, i guess :)
