I recently got a beautiful pair of guppies from a lfs. I came home to realise I needed another female so th male wasn't constantly harrassing her. Well.....I was watching my guppies when I noticed that about 3/4 of the time the male guppy was leaving the femalealone and trying to mate with all my platys and swordtails!!! In fact, she doesn't really get much attention right now. I guess that's good since she's pregnant.

Yeah male guppys have such high sex drives, they can be quite confused at times and try to mate with every other fish in the tank. But as he settles down, his attention will focus a lot more on the female guppy, particularly as she's nearing the end of her pregnancy (since he'll want to mate with her as soon as she's given birth so he can improve the chances of him being the father of her next batch of fry), so you should still get another 1-2females at the least  .
BWT this topic should be in the common livebearers section of the forum ;) .

Yeah, planning on getting another female. The ones they had weren't as cool as the males but some were just as stunning. I know this should be in the livebearers section but posted it here accidentely. I've seemed to be doing things like this a lot recetly! :) :(

lol I bet yall will get a laugh out of this. One of my male guppies tries to mate with a platy in the tank next to him. Guppies are horny little buggers lol.

Personally i'd go for another two females just in case your male turns out to harrass the females a lot, the more females you have the less stressed out they'll be by his efforts as his attention will be divided between more females. Females generally aren't as pretty as the males, but you can definately get some very attractive females out there. You can get some very attractively coloured fry if you breed a bland looking female with a pretty male or vice versa. Admittedly though, some guppys are very inbred now days (which makes them weaker/poor imune system, don't live as long or grow as large etc) and guppys which are not as vividly coloured or don't have exceptionally long or large tails etc tend to be less inbred  .

Luckily the Guppys at my lfs are not inbred. The females they have are almost as stunning as the males! I'm going to try and get some more over the weekend.
