Im thinking about getting another bigger tank maybe a 6' or 8' tank, just want to get some good general ideas on what to keep in it.

I currently have a 4'x2'x2' tank which i have had running for approx 1 year. The stocking for this tank is not ideal, but has been running more than ok for the year the tank has been running. (some of the fish i have had for over a year, previously in a smaller tank)

What i currently have in it is: 3 Silver dollars, 2 angels, 2 bristlenose cats, 1 hillstream loach and 2 BGK's (I am just waiting to be yelled at for this, although i have kept these same 2 BGK's for approx 1 1/2 years in the same tank!)

I am contemplating putting some of these fish into the 6 or 8 footer that i plan to get, what would be the best to put in it in YOUR OPINION. and what other tank mates should i put in the new tank and old tank?

I do regular water changes, and all fish are healthy.

i read 2 bgks are ok together in a big enough tank with enough hiding spots so they both have terrortory.how big r they?
i would leave the fish you have already got in your 4x2x2 and stock the new tank from scratch
make the new tank 7ft or 8ft long & 3ft wide and get a few rays and a nice arowana
can you get rays in oz?

I personally would make it at least 30" front to back and keep some catsharks and marine rays in there, or else stock it with a number of larger preds such as lionfish, groupers and scorpionfish.

Alternatively you could do a sandy bottomed themed tank with some walking batfish, garden eels and a helmet gurnard. throw in some marine halfbeaks for action up the top and it should look a nice tank.

You could always go for sand, huge pieces of bogwood, rocks, plecs (ok, I'm biased), silver dollars, huge shoals of tetras etc. Or a big tank like that is perfect for monster cichlids. Or discus would be nice if you have the time and knowhow. Have you got a rough idea of what look you want to go for - planted, non-planted etc?

Would be great to see pics as you go along? I'm setting up my 7ft tank over the next few weeks/couple of months, it wont be anything posh as I'm limited cash wise, but it's going to be as I mentionned above - sand, rocks, bogwood and plecs. Dont know about the silver dollars, I might go for barbs for some colour.
