Hi,
My red cap oranda (Sushi) has lots of little white dots on her fins (like salt)... I'm pretty sure
it's ich. The tank is new and is in the process of cycling. Should I treat her? But I have to turn
off the filter for it to work... Sushi is totally normal and is swimming happily and eating lots doesn't seem
sick at all!
Stats are:
Ammonia:0
PH:7
Nitrite:0.1
Nitrate:5

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Which fins are affected.

it is a 30 gallon tank. 4 fish are in it.
oranda red cap
black moor
speckled oranda
small comman (1 inch)
No flicking no rubbing. The back fins are. And it is starting to spread to the front fins and to my black moor.
I noticed that this morning that 2 of her back fins looked like the tips were dipped in blood...
I think this is because the speckled oranda is nipping her back fins, so we are moving him to the other tank.
PS do you have to turn off the filter during treatment?????

Ok so I started treatment because it started to spread to other fish... All is good so far! :good: :fish:

Your tanks overstocked.
You need at least a 50 gallon with a 100 gallon filter, with all the goldifsh.

Blood on the fins can be septicemia, to poor water quality.
