Questions in red if you cant be bothered to read it all :good:

I want to add a rock to my tank for decoration etc. My pH is a little on the low side but stable (6.0). I have bogwood which is lowering my pH, and my dad doesnt which is why his is around 7.0 (our tap water is 7.2).

Was wondering, if i add a limestone rock, will this raise my pH? I was looking at a website on ways to raise pH along with ways to lower it. And one way off raising it would be to add a limestone rock. Is this true? And if so, what would i expect my pH to go upto considering its at 6.0 now?

I wouldnt mind my pH being a little higher just so i know its not too low, and its cheaper than buying crushed coral which is what someone recommended.

One other question, for people in the UK, is the rock that PETS AT HOME sell, really limestone? I dont want to be fobbed off. At least i think they sell it...

if you add drops of vinegar to the rock and it fizzes, then it will raise the ph.

Try Tufa rock. I have a piece in one of my tanks and it was fairly cheap. I've seen it in most of my LFS too so it shouldn't bee too hard to find. :good:

Got a picture? Never heard of it. Does it look like this:
