I Used To Have These Things

Thats very sad, poor guy tried to follow the law and ends up with his fish being culled for no reason.

Lets hope the people who made the decision get hit by a bus or something.

It is very sad, and I think it'll mean in the future people won't try to do the right thing by getting a licence and risk losing their fish.

I must admit I don't totally agree with CFC's reaction, the poor bus driver probably didn't do anything to deserve having anything that traumatic happen to him.

Wow- that's awful.

Now I know not to go to the government for help or licence. hehe.

Besides, it should be a slow moving electric trolly car. hehe.

also if you think about it why didn't they give them to some sort of expert instead of killing such a rare fish, that would be helping the situation wouldn't it?

:good:

well he kept them alive for over a year according to the report so he must of been doing something right....

it's just i can't see the need to kill those great fish.

:good:

agreed ,it is sad when fish are outlawed, when that poor fellow had no intention of letting them fish into the wild BUT because some people cant behave and look after animals properly, it spoils it for the rest of us as per usual.

you know what i think when i read something like this is total anger cos they won't do anything about lfs that aint looking after their fish properly yet they are quite happy to cull fish that are being looked after properly by a responable fish owner that even applied for a licence for the fish.
maybe if they took more action against irresponable fish shop owners they would get more respect

govt. are total dicks we should make them have a licence to exist, then kill them for being late see how they like it...

For any fish that requires a special license to own, such as piranhas, hobbyists will NOT get. These licenses/permits are always only issused to public aquaiums, scientists, and other people that Fish and Game do not feel as though they will be a threat to releasing into un-native waters. If you own a fish that needs a permit do not apply for one, you wont get it, guaranteed.

I own "pacus" not piranhas Mr. Fish and Game officer :p

This reminds me of a quote by the late great Ronald Reagan regarding government involvement in peoples lives.

"The nine most terrifying words in the English language: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

honestly though, that really sucks

Ugh, simply disgusting. I can understand, realistically, why he didn't get the permit, but to just cull a rare fish is going a bit too far. I'm sure there are aquariums that would have loved to take them.

As a side note, I saw a couple of these guys at my LFS a while back, someone special ordered them.
