Hey,

I have seen these things at my work in our plant tanks. I guess I got them from the plants at my work. They are these little white bugs (tiny) that jump around. There are some inside the tank on the walls, and these others that sit on top of the water. You can see these guys jump a good 2-3 inches off the top of the water, it is gross. I have been trying some nox-ich treatment to get rid of them, but that hasn't worked too well so far. Might try some copper.

My question is, is it okay to stick my hands in the tank? My boss said it is fine, but I wanted to double check.

Thanks,

DL

I often find small white bugs in my tanks. Normally on the gravel and glass. My planted tank has lots of them. I have never had any problems with them and they don't seem to harm the fish. My quarantine tank once got a large colony of seed shrimp in it when I left it for 3 month with no fish. They just looked like drunken white dots in the water.

There are two types in mine. One has a tail on it and the other doesn't.

It is just creepy, I was scared to stick my hands into my tank when I had planaria. I guess I will just have to suck it up like I had to then.

Actually, I just saw another thread and googled a few names. I believe I either have cyclops or freshwater copepods... Non harmful to humans?
