Last night I got home from work, ate supper, did the usual, then went and had a smoke in front of the fish tank.Fed the the cory's some yummy algea wafer and watched them bounce it around the tank untill it gets soft
All I have are three cory's,a Royal Farowella,and 6 Oto's;I think
I say that because when I started to count them last night,I could find only two!
I thought, oto mystery deaths,I know my water parameters are good.Sooo...I began the search and it wasn't long before I spotted the plastic cage for the filter intake on the ground in the back of the tank!No way, they didn't get sucked up by the canister filter, surely they would have fought the current.I threw the cabinet doors open, flicked my lighter so I could see, fully expecting to find dead oto's floating around in the filter. Then I saw one, alive, eating algea!
Took the filter apart and found three altogether swimming around in there, happy as june bugs!Of course I took them out and reunited them with their buddy's,but I couldn't believe they survived bieng sucked up and spit into a typhoon and then staying there for hours!Tough little guys.I wonder how long they could have lived in there?Did they swim up the tube on purpose?Still missing 1 more but I will check the filter again when I get home
Maybe he is there?Anyway, the intake tube is now fixed, and almost everyone is back in the tank doing their thing.Just thought I would share with you guy's my explaination for oto mystery deaths
Seriously, anybody else ever find fish in their filter before?!
