I ended up with new life spectrum optimum salt h2o flakes.

I meant to get the fresh water one.

Will this be ok for danios and corys or will it be bad for them?

I hate to chunk it. It costs too much for that. I got the big container...

I don't know what the difference is and the ingredients list is really long. Are any of you farmiliar with it?
Please let me know if I can use it or not.

Thank you :good:

I really don't know anything about that food, personally. Can't you just take it back and return it for what you wanted?

It was mail order and it was my fault for clicking on the wrong one. :X

That is why I was trying to find out if it would be ok to use.

I am stuck with it.

Thanks :good:

Sorry to be a pain but could you post the ingredients?
If not fish'll go awhile without food and depending on the fish you could always substitute with food from your fridge.....
Cories should nibble on blanched courgette (zucchini :p )
Danios are omnivorous so should take a little veg; pea maybe and i'm sure they'd love a really tiny, tiny bit of broken up prawn....
Until you post the ingredients or a link to them you need to find another food....

I have other foods too. They are not going to go hungry. My fish eat better than we do. I just don't want to have to throw it out because of how much I paid for it.

Ingredients:
fish protein, krill, mussel, wheat, flour, garlic, spirulina, wheat gluten, fish oil, beta carotene, soy bean isolate, vitamin a acetate, d-activated animal-sterol (d3), vitamin b 12 suppplement, riboflavin supplements, niacin, folic acid, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxin hydrocloride, thiamine, biotin, dl alphato (e) , l-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate ©, choline, chloride cobalt, sulfate, coper sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, ethylenediamine dihydrolodide, ethoxyquin (preservative)

If it will be bad for them I will get rid of it, but if not I can't see not feeding it to them. I don't want to throw it away if I can use it. It is not a huge deal if I can't use it though. It will just mean that I will need to order more food quite soon so I don't run out.

Thanks for helping!

I know that within the last few days, I've read an article on specific foods being produced for specific types of fish. I would imagine feeding freshwater fish, saltwater foods, is probably a no-no.

I'd say don't feed the fish the saltwater food, freshwater flakes are designed specifically for freshwater fish, and the same for saltwater fish and flakes, best bet is not to do it as some ingredients more than likly contain trace amounts of salt...

ok... Anyone need some salt water food? It is unopened, and brand new.

Thanks! :friends:

there's copper? I thought that copper was poison to inverts in marine tanks.
it is. dont know why. ive only had my SW set up for about a month and am still learning but when i got everything the guy told me to ge a copper kit if i didnt already have one cause my copper must be non existent which our tap water is fortunately. i trust this guy. hes a marine expert, licensed collector (of the barrier reef) and one of two marine quarantine stations in our area. hes never before led me astray :)

I just talked to Big Als and the company that makes it... The only difference between the salt water version and the fresh water version is the protein content is higher for saltwater fish. They both said it is fine to use with freshwater fish as long as I feed a little less or alternate with other foods so they don't get too fat. The also said that it would be good to crush for fry because they need higher protein content than adults.
