I Checked The Water..

Ive been monitering the water for quite weeks or so, and it seems fine, now the nitrate is very high, and it bother me, and i need help, i tried doing 15 percent to 90% water change
why is the nitrite so high? am i supposingly to buy a product for this or is it okay and it will cool off later on? thanks

Can you post your nitrate reading here and also the nitrate reading thats is coming out of your tap

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, and ph.

you need to test your tap water hun so you can get a baseline result for ammonia , nitrites , ph and nitrates - not that you should have ammonia or nitrites in your tap water but it's good to know where you are starting from

my nitrite is .5, and i thought i was finish cycling, till now i checked it again

So you have a nitrite reading aswell. If so the tanks hasn't finished cycling.

Can you answer some of the other questions that have been asked too.

29gallon tank
nitirate = .5
there no fish in there except 1 oscar
PH = 7.1

and i dont have a kit to find ammonia, because i got a old kit from my dads friend and yeah, thats all i can get

A nitrate reading of 5 good.
Ammonia and nitrite should be 0.

How long has the tank been set up.
What filter are you using.
Never kept oscars but they need large tanks so I would rehome him.

Sorry is a nitrite reading not nitrate. I got mixed up in the thread.

for a month and 2 weeks on 3rd weeks

filter type = aqua clear 30

and yes i understand it needs a bigggg home, lol , thats why im saving up and looking for cheap 150G + tank on craiglist

The filter look ok for tank size.

Just carry on with water changes. Don't do 90% water changes as it stresses the fish to much.
I would do about 40% till your nitrite reading 0.
