As it is cold and wet, I took the bairn round a tour of the North East fish shops as an 'outing' during the holidays. I was looking for some bottom dwellers (was thinking some corys) and a pair of apistos. She's been watching me on this forum and seeing the regular posts about Khulis so 2 shops in she spotted some and screamed can we have them? So bought the last five they had in the tank, called into a shop on the way home for some fish food 'cos I never seem to see fish suitable for her tank and it was a safe bet but there was another tank of them in there - so three more bought (thinking 8 should be a good group to ensure they aren't scared and come out a bit).

Acclimatised for an hour then released never to be seen again most likely... but 5 year old is happy that the bottom of the tank now has fish, I just hope she gets to see them.

I would have posted pics but they dissapeared into the undergrowth as soon as they were released.

lol You'll see them at some point. They will calm down :) It's always fun to see their cute little faces.

You will need more than 8 to get them out and about, a large number of possible hidey holes will further reassure them.

I have 5 Kuhli Loaches and they are very confident, they come out all the time!

How do khuli loaches get along with plecos guys? I'm thinking of a bn plec or some other small one - can they be kept with them?

Well I left the tank with lights off apart from the moonlight led strip since 4pm and have just come out of her room after spending last hour watching them whizz around the tank through all the plants, bogwood and slate caves. Very active they are, but now I'm a tad worried they are too active. Is it normal for them to be whizzing around at all levels? I thought they'd stick to the bottom but these guys are all over the place and at all levels of the tank.

My pleco doesn't bother my Kuhlis, they are fine together :good:

Mine do that at night, I think they are just playing around :p When I switch the lights on in the morning there is usually a Kuhli Loach or two whizzing around, perfectly normal IME :good:
